Android N Screenshots Leaked

As Android Marshmallow gets a steady roll out across Android devices and newly launched smartphones, screenshots of the next version of Android have already been leaked. The next version of Android codenamed ‘N’ is expected to be unveiled at Google I/O in May, however, the next leak points towards an iOS style hamburger menu.

The addition of the hamburger menu which is a key part of the iPhone interface will make navigation simpler. The screenshot shows that it will enable faster navigation within the settings menu.

In the screenshot, the Bluetooth settings are open and with the hamburger menu, which make togging between different settings faster. This comes as even Microsoft the hamburger style navigation button in its Windows 10 user interface for the phone.

This move comes as a part to open up the side drawer which could refine the Android experience even further.

Besides this already there is some information that’s available which point towards a more optimised Android user experience with Android N. Google executives have already stated that Android N will bring multi tasking enhancements to play and there will be a split view multi tasking system in place for tablets so that two apps can be run simultaneously.

While there are Android tablets and smartphones from Samsung that already offer this kind of functionality, Google is expected to bake the feature on a platform level. `

“We’re working on lots of things right now for N that, of course, we wish we had, you know, yesterday, but we’d spoil the surprise of N if we shared all of them. Split screen is in the works,” Andrew Bowers, director for consumer hardware at Google had said during an AMA on Reddit.

Microsoft was the first major OS maker to add split view multitasking at an OS level. It added the feature in Windows 8. Apple also added the feature in iOS 9 and the new iPad Pro and the iPad Air 2 make use of the feature.

As of now Google is only calling next version of Android N, however, in his visit to India in December, Google CEO Sundar Pichai hinted that he would be open to conducting an online pole for the name of the next version of Android. That being said, no announcement has been made as of now.
