Another Analyst Says 4-inch Cheap iPhone Coming In 2016
Recently we heard about the rumours that Apple will launch a new 4-inch iPhone in 2016. Now another analyst is saying the same thing. Kevin Wang, an analyst with IHS, has said that Apple would launch iPhone 6C in 2014.
According to Wang, the Phone will be a successor of the iPhone 5C and will cost less compared to the regular 4.7-inch iPhone.
While it will be adequately powerful, it will have hardware that will be slower than what goes inside the regular iPhone. Wang reportedly said that the iPhone 6C or will it be iPhone 7C will be powered by Apple’s A8 processor. But the earlier rumour talked of Apple’s A9, which currently powers the iPhone 6S, as the possible processor inside the cheaper and smaller iPhone.
The A9 rumour makes more sense considering next year Apple will have a new processor possible A10 inside its newer phone such as the iPhone 7.
As far as the other hardware is concerned, there is not much clarity on it. Though we do know that screen size will be 4 inches and that the resolution would be the same 750p that we get on the iPhone 6S. There was also a rumour that to keep the price of the smaller iPhone low, Apple would not put features like the 3D display in it.
For Apple, it makes a lot of sense to launch the a cheaper iPhone. Currently, the company sells the iPhone 6S and the iPhone 6S Plus. These are good phones and have mostly managed to beat the high-end Android phones in their class. Unfortunately, they are also very costly. In fact, there are people who want to buy the iPhone 6S but don’t because the price is too high.
In markets like India, majority of smartphones that are sold are in the mainstream market. But in this market Apple has no presence. Instead, it tries to compete with the phones like the One Plus One and Nexus 5X with the older iPhones. It is possible that the upcoming iPhone 6C may debut with the price of around Rs 25,000 or Rs 30,000 in India.
