Even though the concept of Aadhaar card was launched in 2009 which was 9 years ago it wasn’t implemented on a wide range in India. But under the Modi government, it was made to be mandatory, for every Indian citizen, hence becoming the worlds largest bio-metric ID system.
As this single card, consist of so much information about an individual, it arose a question on everyone mind What if all this information falls into the wrong hands? because of today’s technology.

To put a full stop to such doubts about Aadhaar card, Ram Sewak Sharma, Chairman of the Telecom Regulatory Authority threw out a challenge on Twitter. He posted the unique identity number of his own Aadhaar card. And subsequently, people dug up his pieces of information such as DOB, mobile number linked with Aadhaar, PAN number, residence address, online profile pictures and claimed that there were taken using his Aadhaar number. But TRAI hasn’t given any comment on the exposed PAN number whether it was right or not. Sharma refused this saying These details are no state secret and wrote “No I did not challenge them for a phone number and other info. I challenged them for causing me harm! So far no success. Wish them luck”.

A French security expert Elliot Alderson on Twitter wrote “People managed to get your personal address, dob (date of birth) and your alternate phone number. I stop here, I hope you will understand why to make your #Aadhaar number public is not a good idea.” And Internet claimed victory over Sharams challenge.

Even after exposing so much details using Sharams Aadhaar number, he and TRAI have refused this. The Economic Times said that no datas were fetched using Sharmas Aadhaar Number and all these details of Sharma are available in various public domains and could have been taken from them.
