WhatsApp Will Soon Delete Your Old Videos, Messages

The Facebook-owned platform is globally popular for its fascinating features. Users prefer WhatsApp over other messenger apps all because of its exciting features. The platform is given with updates on a regular basis to provide better service to its users.

Despite all the features it has, now WhatsApp has decided to delete old chat contents. Getting back-up from WhatsApp has always been easy. Usually, WhatsApp makes use of Google Drive to store chat histories along with images, videos, and audios.

Google drive account for back-up is added manually by the user on which they would like to store their old chats. Previously all these stored chat histories consumed storage but from now on after the recent update of WhatsApp all these chats, videos, messages will be stored within the drive but will no longer consume storage space.

As of the new update on WhatsApp, if your Google drive has not been updated a year ago, then all those old data will be wiped out of the drive. WhatsApp has announced of doing this by November 12, 2018. This doesn’t mean that the chats won’t be present in your device, it will be there on your device but in case of losing that specific device or switching mobile phones old WhatsApp, data cannot be retrieved later.

Google has sent a mail to its users saying “Due to a new agreement between WhatsApp and Google, WhatsApp backups will no longer count against Google Drive storage quota” as an explanation of whats going on. So after November of this year, storage on Google Drive for WhatsApp will be unlimited.

To avoid any loss of data users of WhatsApp have been advised to do a back-up before November 12, 2018.
