Windows 10 Update Failed? Get A Free Dell Laptop From Microsoft
Call it the offer you can’t refuse. In a bid to boost adoption of Windows 10, Microsoft is giving away a free Dell Inspiron 15 laptop if it can’t upgrade your existing laptop to the latest Windows operating system.
“If your PC meets all of the requirements, our team will upgrade your PC to Windows 10. If we don’t upgrade your PC by close of business, you’ll get a free Dell Inspiron 15,” Microsoft notes on its website.
Now as it happens with such “too good to be true” offers, there are conditions attached. So with this offer, the conditions are:
1.You must be in the US.
2.You must visit a Microsoft Store for the offer.
3.Your existing laptop must meet the required hardware for Windows 10 and must be running Windows 8.
4.The laptop has to be brought to the Microsoft store before 12.00 so that the company’s support staff gets enough time to install Windows 10 on it.
Now, if Windows 10 can’t be installed on the laptop by Microsoft staff, the company will give the laptop owner a brand new Dell Inspiron 15.
Currently, Microsoft Windows 10 is available for free. However, the offer will expire on July 29. Last year Microsoft had said that it wants Windows 10 on 1 billion devices by the middle of 2018. However, a few days ago the company noted that this target may not be reached, mostly because Microsoft no longer has any viable presence in the phone market.
“Windows 10 is off to the hottest start in history with over 350m monthly active devices, with record customer satisfaction and engagement. We’re pleased with our progress to date, but due to the focusing of our phone hardware business, it will take longer than FY18 for us to reach our goal of 1 billion monthly active devices,” a company spokesperson told ZDNet.
