Xiaomi Launches Mi Band 2 In India
There are only a few companies that have remained loyal to the idea of a smartband that is truly a fitness tracker and nothing else. Xiaomi is one such company and after around two years since the first Mi Band, the company has launched Mi Band 2 in India today.
The fitness band is priced at Rs 1,999 and will be available to buy from Mi.com/in and Amazon website. Xiaomi will start selling the Mi Band 2 on its own website from Sept 27, and later from Sept 30 it will available to buy from Amazon India.
First launched in China, the Mi Band 2 comes with a 0/42-inch OLED display panel, which the company claims is scratch proof and carries anti fingerprint coating.
Xiaomi has upgraded the Mi Band 2 with some hardware and software changes. Unlike the Mi Band, the new fitness band comes with a heart rate sensor.
Since the Mi Band now has a display, connecting it with a smartphone is not entirely necessary. You can check footsteps, heart rate, calories, distance, and time on the display. The module has a small button that cycles through this data when pressed.
The associated Mi Fit app is still there, it offers some additional features like sleep tracking and fitness data.
The Mi Band 2 has some other nifty features too, for example, it vibrates when you get a notification on your phone. Another feature named Idle Alert informs you to move if you’ve inactive for an hour or so.
Xiaomi says that Mi Band 2 can run for 20 days on single charge, and in our experience we found it to be true. The band, just like its predecessor, is also sweat, water and dust resistant.
