Xiaomi Mi5 Price, Launch Date Leaked
Xiaomi’s Mi5 may not launch anytime before April 2016 after all, suggests a new report coming in from China . This confirms another report that said Samsung may hold exclusivity to Qualcomm’s next flagship Snapdragon 820 processor until April, next year. This also means that the Mi5 could ship with Snapdragon 820, confirming another set of rumours.
Too many rumours, some might say. But that’s pretty much all we got about the Mi5 as the company has been relatively tight lipped about its new phone until now.
The same reports that tips an April 2016 launch also goes on to tip the pricing of Xiaomi’s yet to be announced Mi5. According to the report, Xiaomi may price its upcoming Mi5 flagship at somewhere around the CNY 2,499 mark which roughly translates to Rs 26,000.
This would make it Xiaomi’s most expensive non-phablet flagship phone to date. The reason why the Mi5 could be priced higher than the Mi4 is apparently because the company is looking to change its brand image in the market.
Moving on, Xiaomi wants to be known as a more premium brand. It would be interesting to see how things pan out for the Chinese company should it be looking for something of that sort. Ever since its inception, Xiaomi has been known for its affordable yet feature rich phones.
That being said the Mi5 is expected to be a well beefed up device for its asking price. While a full metal body with a near bezel-less screen are expected to be on the charts, the inclusion of a fingerprint scanner (above a physical home button) and USB Type-C port cannot be ruled out.
Moreover, it is likely to ship with the latest and greatest CPU, whether or not it is going to be the Snapdragon 820 is yet to be seen.
