Xiaomi’s First Laptop To Be All Metal Comes With USB Type-C
Xiaomi was supposed to launch its first ever laptop said to be a MacBook killer on July 27 at its high-profile Beijing event. Recent reports have however suggested that the company may not announce the Mi Notebook at the event, however a new set of leaks now suggest the laptop may not be that far in the coming.
According to a new Gizmo China report , Xiaomi’s first laptop will be all-metal, have two variants and come with USB Type-C port for charging purposes.
The report cites leaked images of the Mi Notebook giving away much of the profile of Xiaomi’s upcoming laptop. The all metal laptop is seen sporting thin bezels, but the Mi logo is sadly nowhere in sight. The laptop is also seen carrying what looks like a USB 3.0 port.
Xiaomi’s laptop is said to have two variant: a standard and a pro version. The standard Mi Notebook will reportedly be powered by Intel’s Core-i5 processor coupled with 8GB DDR4 RAM and 256GB of SSD storage. It will reportedly carry a price tag of 3,999 Yuan (which roughly translates to $600).
The Mi Notebook Pro on the other hand is said to come with a 15.6-inch screen size, an Intel Core i7-6700HQ processor coupled with NVIDIA GTX 970M 4GB DDR5 graphics card, 16GB DDR4 RAM, and 512GB of SSD storage. The laptop is said to offer a battery life of up to 6 hours on single charge. It will reportedly carry a price tag of 6,699 Yuan (or roughly $1000).
At its July 27 press conference in Beijing, Xiaomi will reportedly launch two new products. While one of them is said to be a phone probably the Redmi Note 4 the other is a mystery product that the company has remained relatively tight lipped about. We will have to wait and watch whether the second product ends up being the laptop. But as far as rumored specs and pricing are concerned, we are definitely looking at something exciting from Xiaomi.
